Common Name: CD(SD)
To Charles River (CRUS) in 1950 from Sprague Dawley, Inc. In 1991, the IGS Foundation colony was established based on breed stocks selected from conventional CD (SD) colonies at Charles River production facilities around the world, and was introduced to Charles River Laboratories Japan, Inc. [predecessor of The Jackson Laboratory Japan, Inc.] in 1994. This strain is maintained under the IGS program. IGS is a program developed by Charles River to produce and maintain animals under the International Genetic Standardization. CD; Caesarean DerivedSD; Sprague Dawley Crl:CD(SD) is SD rats produced and supplied by IGS system in Japan, US, and Europe.
